Scholarships & Opportunities

Scholarships and Other Opportunities

The St. Augustine’s Foundation and King’s College Theological Trust have exciting funding opportunities foraspiring scholars seeking to  undertake their PhD studies in theology. For more information on these opportunities check the links below.

St Augustines’ Foundation

St Augustine's Foundation is a fund, based in the UK, that supports the development of theological education across the Anglican Communion. Its overall aim is to deepen the theological educational resources for the whole Church either through the ministry of individuals or that of institutions.

For individuals we offer Scholarships and Fellowships.

Scholarships are for individuals wishing to undertake PhD studies.

Fellowships are smaller one-off grants for individuals for purposes such as:
•   Funding for the professional development for a church leader in the Majority World
•   Funding of a theologian or theological educator from one Province to spend time teaching in another Province
•   Contribution towards funding for a licensed minister (lay or ordained) undertaking a specific course of study with a defined outcome or output
•   More generally, funding towards a study leave with clearly defined outcomes; a period of focused work consultancy; a mentoring project; or to aid writing towards publication

For institutions we offer grants from our Innovation Fund to stimulate innovation in learning and teaching. These can be for one or two years.

Greater details of all our work can be found on our website: http://www.staugustinesfoundation.org/

King’s College Theological Trust

The King’s College Theological Trust provides financial assistance to students and former students of the Department of Theology & Religious Studies. As well as small grants, one scholarship is awarded each year to a student from overseas who has been accepted to study in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies.

The Trustees aim to award the scholarship to a student who is able to benefit from the educational opportunity offered by the department, and who is unable to obtain an education at this level in their home country. On completion of their studies, the student is expected to return home and make a significant contribution to the religious life there through the medium of one of the Christian denominations. This scholarship meets the full cost of fees and provides a maintenance grant. This is usually awarded to a research student.
