In 1862, the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts (SPG) started sending chaplains to Europe as more British people began visiting the continent or became permanent residents there.

Today, through our partnership with the Diocese in Europe, USPG has a working relationship with 42 countries: Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
