Access to Education

Support children in China, Lesotho and Madagascar

Access to Education works with Anglican churches as they seek to give children the best possible start in life. The three church-led initiatives in this Project are essential in regions battling with extreme poverty, the effect of HIV/AIDS, hostile terrain and inadequate resources.

Madagascar
By supporting this Project you will be helping deprived children in Madagascar to receive clothing, housing, school equipment and medical care at one of the two hostels supported by USPG. Without the hostels, there is very little chance that these disabled or underprivileged children would ever receive an education.

Lesotho
You will be helping Colin Sillett in Lesotho, southern Africa, as he advises headteachers and church-run schools in not only how to implement the curriculum, but also how to educate children about HIV/AIDS, a disease which has claimed many parents.

Every day I come across small signs of hope. The young people I have met from the many high schools involved in the HIV/AIDS courses deserve special praise for their integrity and determination to change their behaviour and cultural traditions in order to rescue their country from the AIDS pandemic.

China
You will also be helping Anne and Mick Kavanagh as they work with the Amity Foundation, teaching at a college in the Gansu Province of China.

Amity has a team of people witnessing at a grassroots level that Christianity is not anti-Chinese or solely western. As missionaries are still banned from China, it represents one of the most effective ways to support Christians in China through the sending of teachers of English from overseas.

Please consider giving to Access to Education today and help change the lives of underprivileged young people in Africa and China.
